Go Ape Cannock Chase

Go Ape is a high-ropes ‘tree-top-adventure’ and there are several woodland locations in which to enjoy the experience spread around the UK. We tried out the site in Staffordshire at Cannock Chase which is a historic forest with a large deer population….although we didn’t actually encounter any deer!

There are several courses to suit all ages and abilities. We took on the ‘Treetop Challenge’ which is the main adult course. It’s suitable for 10 years and over. It combines multiple wobbly walkways from tree to tree, a tarzan swing into a cargo net and 5 long zip wires. The zip-wire above was probably the longest – really huge and so exhilarating!

Your visit begins with a safety course which explains how to use your harness and how to attach it safely to the wires which connect each tree. There’s a low level practice area and the team made sure we were comfortable and confident before we were let loose on the main course. It was nerve wracking at times, but great fun. You always know you are safe which allows you to enjoy the whole experience. By the end our legs and arms were tired and hurting but it was an amazing experience that we will never forget.

It took us around 2 hours to complete the course. Your time will vary depending on the speed of the people in front of you. Adult fees for the Treetop Challenge start at £34.95 (2025 prices) but prices do vary depending on when you want to go and from site to site. There is a hefty parking fee at the Cannock Chase site as the car park is run by the Forestry Commission.
