For a truly memorable experience in Dubrovnik, take the cable car to the top of Mount Srd where you’ll get incredible views of the Old Town and the wider city. The Cable Car station has several viewing areas all offering a slightly different perspective on the historic city below.
There’s also a cafe, restaurant and an attractive stepped terrace to sit on and look at the mountains. There are several small walking paths when you get to the top and there’s even a scenic zip-wire experience which looked amazing!
Although it was busy at the cable car station itself, you only have to walk a little bit away from it to feel like you’re the only people on the mountain. We found it a scenic a peaceful place to be and we spent a fair while spotting locations we had visited within the old city walls.
Adult return tickets on the Mount Srd Cable Car cost 30 Euros, children’s returns are 17 Euros (2025 prices). The cable car usually operates from 9am to 9pm daily. If you don’t want to use the cable car, there are rugged paths up and down the mountain, but don’t underestimate how far this is. Most people walk down rather than up for obvious reasons! You can also visit Mount Srd by taxi (Uber is usually cheapest).
While you’re on the mountain, you can also visit Fort Imperial which dates back to 1810. Inside you’ll find out more about its history as part of the Napoleonic Wars and there’s also a powerful photographic display of how Dubrovnik was damaged in the conflict surrounding the break up of the former Yugoslavia.
